Galvanising

Galvanising is an electrolytic process. In the galvanising process, metal is usually deposited from metal salt solutions using a current source and chemical aids. Galvanising is an electrochemical process for refining the base material (e.g., nickel plating, chrome plating, gold plating, etc.).

The base material of many components does not have the properties required for the final product. Functional metallic coatings are therefore applied. Corrosion protection, appearance, electrical properties, wear protection, slipperiness and solderability are usually only achieved by these very thin metal layers.

The layer thicknesses can be less than 1 µ (1/1000 mm) up to several 100 µ and they are applied as individual layers and as layer combinations. Quality at Collini is ensured by a multitude of process control and monitoring measures.
